Redefining the Modern CTO

With AI everything has changed in technology, product, and digital delivery. We believe that the same is true for the Leaders who drive those things within their organizations. Enterprise CTO’s are historically ( and this is a generalization ) Risk averse, completely resistant to change, Slow moving. The “Legacy” CTO is happy to manage vs. lead, and struggle to, or outsource people management! They tend to know more about spreadsheets than modern tech stacks! Not going to bash the CTO, they have their place in business operations and have seen some success in getting there.

The NEW world needs a new type of CTO! We believe that people come before product. CTO stands for Chief Technology Officer, but it should stand for Chief Transformation Officer! Nothing is static. In nature, things that fail to evolve die off.

So here we go:

The Role

As CTO, you will architect and guide enterprise-scale innovation across cloud platforms, DevOps, AI adoption, product modernization, and cultural transformation. You’ll model leadership that is technically brilliant and human-centric, building systems and cultures that thrive under pressure and grow through change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead cloud-native transformations using agile, scalable, and secure architecture patterns.
  • Design and deploy operating models that balance rapid execution with long-term resilience.
  • Build Centers of Excellence in AI, DevOps, Product Management, and Security.
  • Mentor and inspire cross-disciplinary teams, cultivating a high-trust, high-performance culture.
  • Shape technical strategy with emotional acuity, navigating ambiguity while grounding teams.
  • Act as the connective tissue across business units, M&A activity, and client-facing initiatives.

Ideal Leadership Mindset

  • ENFP-style Thinking: Visionary, energizing, people-first, capable of driving innovation while creating psychological safety. Thinks in systems and patterns, acts with imagination and logic.

This mindset fosters the kind of leadership that invites collaboration while compressing transformation timelines. It’s not just about what you build, it’s how you build trust while doing it.

What it takes:

  • 15+ years in technology leadership roles (Director of Technology, Chief Architect, VP Engineering).
  • Expertise in cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP), enterprise software, and scalable platforms.
  • Proven track record leading transformation programs: Agile/Safe, DevOps, Cloud Migration, AI.
  • Experience across multiple industries—Telco, Automotive, Financial Services, SaaS, Retail, Public Sector.
  • Ability to architect and implement innovation labs, venture studios, and platform engineering orgs.
  • Skilled in M&A strategy, integration, and harmonization of digital portfolios.

Bonus Points

  • Known for inventing first-of-their-kind solutions and translating bleeding-edge into production.
  • Has launched cultures, not just code, mentoring people as effectively as building platforms.
